How These Scholarships Came to Be
Paul David was born in Massillon, Ohio in 1923. As a young man growing up in a large family during the Depression era in Massillon, he vowed to assist other youth, just like himself, who could not obtain the means to further their education.
“My objective was to graduate from high school, go get a job and bring groceries home,” he told the Canton Repository in 1993. “Any thought of a formal college education was out of the question.”
To date, the Paul & Carol David Foundation has awarded scholarships to more than 1,300 area high-school students.
