Grant Requests

Does the Foundation publish an annual report?
The Foundation does not publish an annual report; however, our grant guidelines
identifying our mission can be viewed at
Grant Making Guidelines.

How can I receive a copy of the Foundation's 990-PF?
A copy of our most recent 990-PF can be obtained by phoning our office at (330) 479-0200,
or request a copy using our
Contact Form.
Does the Foundation give grants to individuals?
No, the Foundation can award grants only to public charities that have been ruled tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1)or(2)
of the Internal Revenue Code.

Does the Foundation give scholarships?
Yes, please see David Scholar Program tab for more information regarding our scholarship program.

Do I have to be a 501(c)(3) public charity to apply for a grant?

What are the Foundation's top funding priorities?
The Foundation concentrates its granting efforts on organizations assisting underprivileged and disadvantaged children in Stark County, Ohio,
with a concentration in Western Stark County.

How can I find out if the Foundation has an interest in funding my proposal?
To learn more about the Foundation's mission and history, please visit the History and Mission Pages. You may also send a letter of inquiry to
the Foundation stating the purpose of your grant request. The letter will be reviewed and answered as to the appropriateness of a request

What geographic area does the Foundation fund?
The Foundation focuses its grant gifting in Stark County, Ohio, with an emphasis in Western Stark County.

Does the Foundation give grants to organizations outside of Stark County?
The Foundation does approve grants to organizations outside of Stark County, but only if residents of Stark County benefit from the grant.

How do I apply for a grant?
In order to apply for a grant, please complete our online Grant Application.

Is there a limit on the dollar amount of the grant that I request?
There is no limit on the amount of a grant proposal; however, collaboration with other funders is strongly encouraged.

Does the Foundation grant multi-year or matching grants?
The Foundation does grant multi-year and matching grants. Matching funds with other organizations is strongly encouraged.

What are the deadlines for proposals?
Deadlines for grant proposals submissions are:

May 31 for August meeting
September 30 for November meeting
December 31 for February meeting

Does the Foundation meet with organizations to discuss applications prior to the Trustees' meeting?
If further information is needed after receiving the grant proposal, the organization will be contacted for a telephone conference, meeting,
or site visit.

What are the dates of the Trustees' meetings?
The trustees generally meet quarterly in February, June, September, and November.

How is the final decision on whether or not to fund a project made?
All requests received by the Foundation are evaluated based on the most appropriate fit with the Foundation's mission and the funds available
for such a request.

When and how will I be notified of the Trustees' decision?
Applicants of grant proposals will be notified in writing of the Trustees' decision within four weeks after the Trustees' meeting.

How often can my organization apply for a grant?
New grant requests may be submitted yearly to the Foundation.

Can I reapply for a grant that has been denied?
The Foundation generally does not reconsider grant proposals that have been denied previously.
